COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF FOUNDATION’S EXTRA YARD FOR TEACHERS PROGRAM
In 2015, the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl partnered with the College Football Playoff Foundation to provide $200,000 to simultaneously fund 152 special teacher projects from grades 5-12 – primarily within the core subject areas of math, science, social studies and language arts.
Teacher projects funded significantly improved the resources available for 136 teachers and 18,000 students at 54 elementary, middle and high schools in Atlanta where funding for projects like these is critically needed.
The financial commitment funded projects listed on the DonorsChoose.org website. DonorsChoose.org is a national organization that allows people to assist with classroom projects that are listed by teachers.
In 2016, the partnership was elevated for the creation of a three-year literacy program for early childhood development within Atlanta Public Schools.
Together, the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, along with the Atlanta Football Host Committee, Chick-fil-A Foundation and College Football Playoff Foundation, committed $2 million to fund the program that will train 1,500 teachers in a specialized reading curriculum to help 25,ooo APS elementary students learn to read at higher levels.
