Peach Bowl, Inc. matches donation for a campaign total topping $1 million
Fans rooting for teams across the nation stepped up to the challenge and exceeded the goal of $500,000, raising a combined $515,719. Thanks to a generous match of $515,719 by Peach Bowl, Inc., a total of $1,031,438 in proceeds will benefit pediatric cancer patients at Children’s. This year, funds raised from the campaign will be added to the Peach Bowl LegACy Fund which will benefit the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, one of the largest cancer centers in the country.
During the game, Georgia Tech will be recognized for donating the most of any team, with a total of $124,586. For raising more money than any other group, members of Team Lex will receive tickets to the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Dec. 28 and will be recognized with the 2019 Anna Charles “AC” Hollis T4C Trophy on the field during the game. The trophy is named in memory of AC Hollis, a former Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorder Center patient and the daughter of Peach Bowl, Inc. VP of Sales Benji Hollis, who passed away from acute myeloid leukemia in September 2018.
This past September, Peach Bowl, Inc. announced the Peach Bowl LegACy Fund, a historic $20 million gift to the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, named in honor of AC Hollis. The donation represents the largest gift ever given by Peach Bowl, Inc. and one of the largest ever received by Children’s. The Peach Bowl LegACy Fund commitment will be hyper-focused on funding clinical drug trials for the most promising new drugs and treatment options for children fighting cancer.
To provide additional longer-term funding, Peach Bowl, Inc. has committed to allocating additional dollars from the Peach Bowl Touchdowns for Children’s campaign to further support the Peach Bowl LegACy Fund and its future efforts.
“College football fans stepped up to the challenge and beat this year’s donation goal,” said Gary Stokan, Peach Bowl, Inc. CEO. “We’re honored to be able to match that total and together we’ve teamed up to raise more than $1 million toward fighting pediatric cancer.”
Peach Bowl T4C has now raised a total of $1,918,014 in its first three years.
“We’re appreciative of the many college football fans who contributed and especially thankful for our friends at the Peach Bowl who have embraced this program and matched every dollar contributed,” said Scott Hodoval, vice president of Development for the Children’s Foundation.
