Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Becomes First New Year’s Six Bowl to Sell Out

Record number of renewals from local ticket buyers helps the Bowl secure its 21st sellout in the past 23 games for 2019 Semifinal game.

ATLANTA (Aug. 8, 2019) – The College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl today announced a sellout, making it the first New Year’s Six bowl game to sell through all its individual game tickets. This is the Bowl’s second-earliest sellout in its history and the 21st sellout in the last 23 games.

The earliest sellout remains the Bowl’s first Semifinal in 2016.

A record 99 percent of 2018 ticket buyers renewed their purchases for this year’s Semifinal game to secure the sellout nearly five months before the game.

In total, the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl ticket office sold 47,272 tickets to local and regional buyers, sponsors and partners. The remaining tickets are allocated to the Bowl’s two participating teams who will be announced by the College Football Playoff selection committee Dec. 8.

“This is truly a testament to the passion that Atlanta fans and corporations have for the game of college football,” said Peach Bowl, Inc. CEO and President Gary Stokan. “We look forward to a sold out, electric atmosphere in the best stadium in the world for college football, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and a guaranteed matchup of No. 1 vs. No. 4 or No. 2 vs. No. 3.”

The College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Chick fil-A Peach Bowl will be played Saturday, Dec. 28 at either 4 p.m. or 8 p.m. ET. It will host either the No. 1 vs. No. 4 or the No. 2 vs. No. 3 teams in the country as assigned by the College Football Playoff selection committee. The game will be nationally telecast by ESPN.

“Our fans are obviously thrilled the College Football Playoff Semifinal is returning to our city this year,” said Bob Somers, Peach Bowl, Inc. chairman. “And who can blame them? This will be one of the biggest sporting events of the entire year.”

The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl last hosted a Semifinal in 2016 when No. 1 Alabama defeated No. 4 Washington 24-7. That game boasted the largest crowd to ever see a football game in the Georgia Dome with a record 75,996 in attendance.

Official Ticket Exchange

Fans may still be able to find limited tickets on the secondary ticket market by using the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl’s official secondary market ticket exchange through Ticketmaster.
